Live Life & Make Memories

Hey beautiful people!
I hope your Wednesday  went by as excellent as I feel. This past weekend, I had the honorable privilege of attending a funeral and baby dedication. I know you are probably wondering why would I consider going to a funeral as honorable. Well I’ll explain it bit later.

Life is something that we take for granted. We are so stuck in the everyday hustle and bustle of our daily routine that we take those precious moments for granted or we simply miss them for dozens of reasons.  We don’t realize the importance of life until something drastic comes and disrupts the flow of our nature routine and makes us ponder about life.

I felt that I was going through a routine of life until I realized that there was more to life than what I was doing. I use to live vicariously through other people. I would be on my social media feeds looking at what my friends,  family and people who I followed pages in admiration wishing to do the things that I saw they were doing. I decided to myself that I could and would do the things that are beyond my daily routine. Things that challenge me and makes me step out of my comfort zone.

How many of us know that comfort and fear can keep us for alot of things. I believer of John 10:10 that God came to give us life of abundance. I’m not referring to possessions but to experience life to fullest.  I feel that we must take time for the precious things in life. We must make memories so that we can reflect on them in those seasons where we feel sad, depressed or unmotivated. These memories act as antidote to cure those dry seasons. It rejuvenates us.

Now back to the funeral and baby dedication, I was able to be with my friends’ who during that weekend chose to celebrate life and cherish those precious moments of the past or began new ones. I was blessed to be apart of their moments.

Today, make the decision to make time for the memories and not get caught up in the everyday hustle bustle. When you pass what do you want to be remembered for? The choice is your!!

XOXOX,
KAT

Chosen

Growing up in elementary school,  my favorite class used to be PE. I loved going to PE because thats where I could hang out with my girls but most important, I got to play my favorite game of all time kickball. I remembered my first time playing this game at my new school as if it was yesterday. I was in fifth grade at the time and our teacher brought us out to our PE teacher. He asked for two students and he randomly selected two students and they happened to be the two popular kids in the class. You guys remember that whole team selection process. It was just me and this another boy who were left. I was fairly new to the school and nobody knew me. The two team captains were arguing among themselves about who they wanted on their team. I overheard the boy saying, I don’t want the fat girl.

Why is that we have this misconception that chunky people can’t run but thats another topic for another day. Back to the story, so I joined my other teammates and I waited for my turn as the the ball rolled to me, I kicked as hard as I could. The ball went flying and I ran to first base, then  second base, dusted past third  and merrily skipped to home because I knew nobody was going catch that ball. Lets just say that those kids learned a lesson never judge a book but its cover. Cliché, I know but its true. The thing I remembered most was hearing the boy who hadn’t  chosen me say “Man, I should have chose her!”

How many of us remember a time where we weren’t chosen  for something whether it be a job, relationship,  position or to be part of organizations. In our mind we felt that we were right for the position. I have find that way so many times and I use to question myself and sometimes doubt myself of not being worthy. Until recently during my quiet time with Lord where he opened my eyes to this verse James 1:18 NLT “He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.”

Now what stuck out to me that God had chose me. Even with my faults God still wants me. Guess what…He wants you too. The fact is that He sees us as His prized possession that He sent His only son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. He did this so that He could have relationship with His children.  So with this in mind, the next time you are rejected just remember that God will never reject you because He chose you. He loves you and you are His prized possession thats all that matters.

Faith Endurance

What Up Peeps!!!

I hope you are doing fabulous on this amazing Wednesday!  Yesterday, my pastor gave a word that was meant for me and God allowed it to roll into today during my quiet time. I  thought I’d share it with you. So the titleof my pastor sermon was ‘Rent to Own’ and the overall topic of his sermon was that in order to get to where God is calling you to be, you need to move into a new season.

Don’t get comfortable in a renter mentality that you never walk into that season of ownership. He used the example of the Israelites who were only supposed to be in the wilderness for a couple days but they ended up in the wilderness for 40 yrs. This was because of their lack of faith. You see the Israelites had enough faith to get them out Egypt but they didn’t have enough faith to get them to the land that God promised them.

For so long I had an Israelite mentality where i believe God for some things but not in everything. I would be like God I trusted you in the area of my finances but when I  keep getting calls from debt collectors then I begin to worry then I began to think to myself that oh maybe God won’t come through this time. How many of you can relate to feeling like this?  However, God checked me this morning during our quiet time when the verses of
James 1:2-4  where it reads, ” 2 Dear brothers and sisters,[a] when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4  So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

As I read this to myself this morning, why would I  consider going through obstacles as great joy. Why should this make me joyful as I type this I realize the reason behind it because when you go  into battle with an positive attitude then it will be easier to overcome that trial.   We know that we don’t relay on our own strength but the strength of the Lord. This mere fact should bring joy to our heart and encourage us to stand firm in faith.

Which leads us to verses 3 &4 which speaks to the altitude that when our faith is tested then our faith endurance has a chance to grow and as our faith matures we began to lack for nothing  because we now have a solid foundation in Christ that our faith will not waver no matter the obstacles.  We have learned that God will bring us through the storm the way He chooses because He knows whats best for us and what we need. He knows what we can handle and what we can’t.

So the next time you are facing a challenge or you find yourself in an obstacle remember to count it all joy then remind firm in your faith because God will bring you through and remember what He promised because you don’t want to be like the Israelites who wondered through the wilderness for their lack of faith.
