Weekend Recap: Love Is In The Air

This weekend, I was honored to attend my friend Denise’s and her boo-boo Joe’s wedding. When I tell you I had an amazing time.  You know, it’s always fun being surround with people you love and care for. However, I am not here to recap the wedding play by play but to bring to you some encouragement. So my friend and her husband wrote a friendship contract when they were 19 years old.  I know right who thinks about writing something that like that when you’re a teen but they did. I know you’re probably wondering what was written in their friendship contract. I’ll give you the basic run down. It was quite simple; it basically stated that they will be friends until the end of time. I know so simply but yet it was upheld despite the fact that life happened and they went their separate ways. They somehow found each other again.

Now, they crazy part of this story is that people told them they were going to get married.  Guess what??? They did 15 years later.  So I know you probably wondering, “Where is the encouragement?” Well my friend, here it is….. When you allow Christ to the center of any of your relationship, just watch how He will transform it for the purpose of glorifying the Kingdom.  How??? Let me enlighten you.

When you allow Christ into your relationship He begins to show you and teach you how to love your significant other, friend or family the way He designed. You know that 1 Corinthians 13 type of love.  Often times, relationships become disastrous because we as individuals function on the idea that love is conditional, but its not!!  Love is unconditional! Love doesn’t have a requirement!

It chooses whom it wants and when. However, when loves comes it does have a standard and you have to maintain it if you want love to be successful.  I’m learning that along the way on this life journey to love as Christ loves and to invite Him into every one of my relationships so that I don’t misuse or abuse love.  I suggest you do the same and watch how God flourishes your relationship.

HELP!!! SOS!!! Troubles W/ Being Consistent!

Whats Happening Peoples,

I wanted to come on here and be transparent with you. As you all can see, I lack the ability of being consistent and following through with projects. I have been struggling with being consistent whether looking for job, working on my blog, working out on my own and image firm. I have the best intention of working on my stuff but I find it so hard not get distracted by life or petty things. I feel that I am at the beginning stage so I should not have these problems being that I have a lot to do. Sometimes, I am not in the mood to write or I have nothing to write. I know that I’m in the beginning stage so I should not have these problems. But I do!! I want to do better because consistency is the path to success.  However, I have yet to grasp that because I’m struggling with it. How do you guys balance life and being consistent with your business?  I would love to get any feedback from you on overcoming this issue.

Meal Prep Meal:Greek Salad

Hey Peeps,

Last week, my mom brought tons of salad. I was like what am I going to do with all that salad. Then, it came to me! I’m going to Greek Salad with a homemade Greek Salad Dressing. So I took to the internet. During my research, I found that the Greek Salad originated from Greece. The name  means rustic salad or summer salad.

The typical salad ingredients include
tomatoes, cucumbers,onion, 
feta cheese, and Kalamata olives. The salad is typically seasoned with salt and oregano, then dressed with olive oil. 

While on Pinterest and Google, I saw that there were many different variations of this salad. Some individuals added garbanzo bean, capers or even green bell peppers.

I posted the recipes down below the recipe that I followed. I hope you guys try it out and post a picture if you do because I would to see your Greek Salad creation.

Fitness Journey & Tips

I just wanted to give you guys an update on my fitness journey as well as give you a bit of  encouragement along the way. I restarted my fitness journey almost two months ago after a four month fitness hiatus. When I mean hiatus I mean it. I was just eating what I want and when I want. I couldn’t believe how I let myself go. I gain about 20lbs during that time. Now I’m back on a healthy regime. I prep all my meals for the week. I try not to eat out as much but I do. I try to get something that is healthy even though I consider it my cheat meal. I try to keep a healthy balance.

Although, I do have some serious short coming when it comes to food especially sweets. I sometimes have a huge craving for cake or doughnuts. There were times, for example,  last week I made a pan of brownies and cake. Guys and Gals, when I tell you that I ate a whole pan  of brownies in one day.

I was so shocked that I did that when I
was trying to practice self control; however, that didn’t work out. I didn’t beat myself up. I remained determine to do better the next time and practice self control.  Although, it hard I’m making a better effort, I purposely leave my debit card home so I don’t spend money and I don’t keep sweets in my home. I want  share with you that if fall off your fitness  journey just try to get back to doing it. 

It may be something as small as changing what you eat or cutting back on sweets, juices or sodas or even junk and fast food. Implementing more veggies and fruit into your diet.  You can even do portion control. As far as physical fitness incorporate 30 mins or more of you some sort of physical activity like walking, jogging or playing a sport. Just do something to get that body moving and burning those calories.

Remember that this is a lifestyle change that takes work not overnight fad or get rid of fat regime. It didn’t take one day to put on so don’t expect it to come off quick. You need to be realistic with yourself when setting expectations or goals. Do the work properly and watch your body transform. 

Also, form a group with individuals who share the same mindset as you when it comes to fitness and being healthy. Trust me, when I say it helps because these individuals hold you accountable. You can also included your family on this journey; for example, I included my mother in my weekly meal prep. She loves it because she has a meal ready for everyday. She doesn’t have to worry about cooking.

I get to introduce her to vast of different healthy and tasty greens and food. Now thats not easy sometimes because my mom is a very picky especially being that she is Haitian. So if I can get her to change eating habits I’m happy.

Well my friends until next time on this journey. For those who are starting keep it up and don’t get discourage and to my old time fitness pals…keep it up.

Change Starts With You

President Barack Obama stated, “ Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting  for. We are the change that we seek.”   I agree with his statement because a lot of times we are waiting for someone or situation or circumstances to change our current situation. But we fail to realize that if we don’t like where we are then we have the power to change it.  Nobody has that compatibility but you.  We need to stop putting that power in the hands of others.

Last night, as I was doing devotions I am reading this book by Terri Savelle Foy called Imagine Big where she helps you live out the dreams you have for your life.  She has a subtitle in the book called The Power of Change where she talks about making the changes that we need to in order to reach our dreams and goals. She said something so profound that I thought I’d share it with you.

She said, “If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’re going to keep getting what you’ve always gotten. In order, to have more, you must become more. You have to change. You have to put in place new habits, new routines, and new ways of thinking”.

You can’t expect change if you keep doing the same thing over and over again. Then, expect a different result. It doesn’t work that way. You have to make that change in order to see new results.  Especially when it comes to dealing with other individuals in order to see a different result in a person, we may need to make the change.   Once individuals see the changes that we made, believe me when I tell you it will cause a shift. It is no wonder why, Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world” because we must change within ourselves if we want others to change and be impacted.

So what is in your life that needs to be change? Take some time and think about. If you can’t figure it out, pray and ask the Lord because He will definitely help you out with that one.
