Last week, my personal trainer said something to me that stuck to me. It inspired me to write this here blog post. I’m a slow walking. Slow as in a snail walks faster than me. When I walk with my friends who walk fast, I feel like I have to jog to keep up with them. So when my trainer had my classmates and I power walk, I nearly lost my life. I caught a cramp in my legs. I’m short with short legs so fast pace walking is not my cup of tea.
As I was dying, the trainer told me you have to push past your comfort zone. I thought to myself, he is crazy but right. Don’t you hate it when your trainer said something profound as they try to kill you? I went home in pain; I couldn’t shake what my trainer said because what he said made sense. In order, for you to see changes you have push yourself past your comfort level and limits. I even made an acronym Persevere Until Something Happens.
The key word in this PUSH acronym is persevere. Persevere is defined as continuing in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success. This is the key to a successful fitness or healthy lifestyle journey. Some of us go into this fitness journey with the wrong mindset. We want a quit fix but that is not what this journey is about its about being a healthy and better you. You have to do it the right way. In order, for that to happen you have endure and push through. I know this journey will not be easy. There will be some hard times, temptation and you may even hit a plateau but hang in there. Because changes will soon come and you will definitely see the difference but you have to PUSH.
Couple of months ago, my cousin did something that I could not even imagine myself doing. She wrote a letter to guy she liked and told him how she felt about him. Now some of you are thinking that’s nothing. However, there are a few of us that feel that this way out of character for me. So let us move to the boldest part of this story, my cousin went and talked to him about the letter she wrote to him. I was shocked yet proud of her. I was shocked because I would never be able to go to a boy tell him how I feel about him and let alone go to him and discuss something that exposed my innermost feelings. This is the very thing that made me proud of her. She was bold enough to step out of her comfort zone to accomplish something that was beyond her wildest dreams. I know that some of you are thinking that my cousin is crazy for doing that and could never imagine yourself doing something of this nature. This is because we get so comfortable being in that comfort zone that we don’t think about what beyond that. This causes us to miss out on amazing opportunities. Why is that we get so complacent in our comfort zone? I’ve asked myself that questions a million times. I realized that we are just so use to familiarity that we don’t want anything outside of that because we don’t really embrace change. We want to stay in our bubble of comfort so anything that forces us to step out of our zone forget about it because we don’t like to be challenged. However, this attitude can cause us to miss out on opportunities that are beyond our wildest dreams. So my friend, it’s not too late for you change that attitude and get out of your comfort zone. And find and do something that you never imagine yourself doing or taking an opportunity that you didn’t think was possible and make it possible. I leave you with this quote from Joel Osteen, “I want to challenge you today to get out of your comfort zone. You have so much incredible potential on the inside. God has put gifts and talents in you that you probably don’t know anything about.”
Yesterday, I didn’t have the chance to catch the 2015 Billboard Awards. However, I did see all the hot looks that celebrities showed up on social media feeds. You know I couldn’t forget about the Cannes Film Festival. I hope you all enjoy the looks because I definitely did.
I recently had the privilege of working out with an amazing trainer with some of my close friends. I wanted to share with you guys some of the workout plans that he has us doing. So we do this workout routine before we take a shower.
This is something that he gave us this as well and I wanted to share this with you guys as well. We had to do this 5x. I was dying because I hate burpees. I had to do it 100 times ugh. But I know it was worth it.
So if you guys just want a quick workout. Feel free to try them out. Let me know what you think.
How many of us can agree that feel the perfect quote at the right time can either uplift, inspire, encourage and motivate us. I know I can attest to that. So today, I decided to share with you guys some qoutes that I found on Pinterest. I hope that these quotes move you just like they moved me.
Last week Thursday, my cousin invited her sister and myself to hang out with her coworker and herself for Happy Hour Piola in Miami Beach. Piola is an Italian pizzeria that serves amazing authentic Italian dishes.
We decided to sit at the bar, My cousin and I got Strawberry Caipiroska and my other cousin got the same drink but a kiwi flavor. Strawberry and Kiwi was so good. I had make my drink with less alcohol because it was so strong. The drinks during happy hour were extremely affordable. The drinks prices ranged from 6-8 dollars. We got three drinks and total came up to be $20.00.
Now what I really enjoyed about the restaurant was that while we sat the bar, we were served appetizers. The appetizers were spicy pico de gallo with fresh pita bread, spicy pasta and deli roll that had corn, lettuce, deli meat and mayo type condiment. I almost forgot they served us a bruschetta as well. Everything was so good. However, the deli roll was my favorite because I don’t really eat spicy food.
We also got to try Sgroppino Al Limone which is lemon gelato with vodka. It was really good. I didn’t even taste the alcohol and I liked that because my tolerance for alcohol is so low. If I can taste alcohol, I don’t like it. So when I felt I drinking melted ice cream, I was happy.
The customer service was excellent and they had some cute Italian guys there that was a plus (lol). They also have a Ladies Night on Wednesday so ladies if you are in Miami Beach on Wednesday go check them out. Now on to my rating of Piola, I would gave them 5 belly full because of the customer service and the food was amazing. So if you are in the Broward/ Dade area go check Piola and tell me what you think.
